Product description

The 7160 screw is a self-tapping bi-metal screw designed for fixing trapezoidal sheets to a timber substructure. It is therefore the right choice when the supporting structure is made of timber rather than steel. The recommended embedment depth of at least 30 mm ensures a secure hold in the timber.

UFO Bi-Metal Self-Tapping Screw A2
Torque wrench 25
Reduced drill tip No. 1
flat underside of head
Sealing washer A2
For fixing profiled sheet metal to timber substructures
Drilling capacity ∑ ≤ 2.0 mm, recommended anchoring depth ≥ 30 mm

Typical applications

The 7160 screw is used wherever profiled sheets need to be fixed to a timber structure. Typical applications include:

  • Fixing trapezoidal sheets to timber substructures
  • Roofs and walls with timber frameworks
  • Use on walls and roofs
  • Outdoor applications and indoor areas with high humidity

The screw is designed as an A2 self-tapping bi-metal screw with a reduced drill point and an accompanying A2 sealing washer. It is available in a length of 35 mm; the recommended embedment depth in timber is at least 30 mm. For roof applications, it is approved for use with or without a cap.

When should you choose this screw?

The 7160 screw is the right choice when trapezoidal sheet metal is being fixed to a timber substructure. If, on the other hand, the supporting structure is made of steel, the 7110, 7120 or 7130 screws are recommended, depending on the thickness of the beam. The 7140 screw is suitable for joining two sheets of metal together. You can find an overview of all screws in the ‘Screws’ category.

Matching products

The 7160 screw is used in conjunction with profiled sheets. Suitable products:

  • Trapezoidal sheets for roofs and walls: Trapezoidal sheet range.
  • Cap screws for use on roofs when the screw is positioned in the high rib.
  • Fastening screws for steel, if parts of the supporting structure are made of steel, such as the 7110 screw.

Frequently asked questions

How does the 7160 screw differ from the 7110 to 7130 screws?

The 7160 screw is designed for a timber substructure, whereas the 7110, 7120 and 7130 screws are designed for steel beams of varying thicknesses. The choice depends on the material of the supporting structure.

How deep must the screw be anchored into the timber?

The recommended embedment depth is at least 30 mm. This ensures that the sheet metal is securely held in place on the timber structure.

What lengths are the screws available in?

The 7160 screw is available in a length of 35 mm with a sealing washer. The appropriate choice depends on the sheet metal profile and the timber structure. We would be happy to advise you on this.

Do I need a cap on the roof?

On the roof, the screw is approved for use with or without a cap. A cap is used when the screw is positioned in the high rib to improve the bearing surface. We’d be happy to advise you on the appropriate design.
