Product description

The 7120 screw is a self-tapping bi-metal screw designed for fixing trapezoidal sheet metal to a steel substructure. It is designed for particularly heavy-duty steel beams and reliably drills through material between 2.5 and 5 mm thick. This makes it the right choice when the substructure is more robustly dimensioned than is required for standard fastening.

UFO Bi-Metal Self-Tapping Screw A2, DS 25
Drill point No. 3
flat underside of head
Sealing washer A2
for fixing profiled sheets to steel substructures

Typical applications

The 7120 screw is used wherever profiled sheets need to be fastened to heavy-duty steel beams. Typical applications include:

  • Fastening of trapezoidal sheets to heavier steel substructures
  • Use on walls and roofs
  • Outdoor applications and indoor areas with high humidity
  • Support structures with beam thicknesses between 2.5 and 5 mm

The screw is designed as a self-tapping bi-metal A2 screw with a carbon drill tip and an accompanying A2 sealing washer. It is available in lengths of 25 mm and 38 mm and is designed for steel thicknesses of 2.5 to 5 mm. It is approved for use on roofs with or without a cap.

When should you choose this screw?

The 7120 screw is the right choice when the steel substructure is particularly strong, with a thickness of 2.5 to 5 mm. For thinner beams of 1 to 3 mm, the 7110 screw is sufficient. For sandwich panels, depending on their thickness, the longer panel screws such as the 7565 are recommended; for flanged profiles, the 7550 is recommended. You can find an overview of all screws in the ‘Screws’ category.

Matching products

The 7120 screw is used in conjunction with profiled sheets. Suitable products:

  • Trapezoidal sheets for roofs and walls: Trapezoidal sheet range.
  • Cap screws for use on roofs when the screw is positioned in the high rib.
  • Screw 7110 for thinner steel beams from 1 to 3 mm: Screw 7110.

Frequently asked questions

How does the 7120 screw differ from the 7110?

Both are bi-metal self-tapping screws for fixing trapezoidal sheets to steel. The 7120 is designed for thicker beams from 2.5 to 5 mm, whilst the 7110 screw is for thinner ones from 1 to 3 mm. The choice depends on the thickness of your substructure.

What does ‘bi-metal’ mean in relation to this screw?

Bi-metal means that a corrosion-resistant stainless steel screw is combined with a carbon steel drill tip. This allows the screw to be driven into steel without pre-drilling, whilst still remaining corrosion-resistant.

In what lengths is the screw available?

The 7120 screw is available in lengths of 25 mm and 38 mm, each with a sealing washer. The correct length depends on the sheet metal profile and the substructure. We’d be happy to advise you on this.

Do I need a cap on the roof?

For roof applications, the screw is approved for use both with and without a cap. A cap is used when the screw is driven into the high rib to improve the bearing surface. We’d be happy to advise you on the appropriate design.
